As entrepreneurs, they believe in backing bold ideas and working with people who can turn them into lasting solutions. They look beyond traditional philanthropy and consider how all their resources can work together to create lasting impact.

Their aim goes beyond grant-making: they use their investments, partnerships and influence in ways that reinforce one another and help create lasting opportunities for people and communities. For Urs, Simone and their family, this is a long-term commitment. They underscored this commitment by joining the Giving Pledge in 2022 and pledging the majority of their wealth to philanthropy.

    Switzerland
    Mekong region

The Foundation has a dual geographical focus.

   Switzerland

Through our strategic engagement across Switzerland, we aim to give back to the country where our Foundation was established. In response to the ongoing conflict in Myanmar, we also support and work with migrant and refugee communities along Myanmar’s borders with Thailand, India and Bangladesh.

The region’s population is dynamic, talented and committed, yet many people lack the opportunities to realise their potential. The Foundation therefore works to strengthen the region and its communities for the long term.

   Board and management office

   Board

   Team

Our team is supported by experienced professionals on a mandate basis: Antonella Marcionelli (Partner Support Health), Simone Small (Sport Special Projects Advisor) and Aung Soe Htet (Mekong Health Advisor).

The Ursimone Wietlisbach Foundation is a Swiss philanthropic foundation established in 2021 by Urs and Simone Wietlisbach.
