Opportunity, participation and quality of life
We support long-term, practical initiatives across Health, Learning to Earning and Sport. Together with strong partners, we help create opportunities for people to develop their capabilities, participate fully in society and lead healthier, more active and meaningful lives.
For us, lasting progress means more than economic growth or access to services. It is also about whether people can make use of these opportunities, participate fully in society and fulfil their potential.
Reimagining health systems around people and health promotion
We support initiatives that help shift health systems towards health promotion, whole-person care and long-term sustainability. We work with partners developing practical approaches that place people – rather than institutions or individual conditions – at the centre of how health is understood and care is delivered.
Our work includes building evidence, engaging with policy-makers and health professionals, supporting locally grounded innovation and developing strategic partnerships. Together, these efforts can contribute to fairer, more responsive health systems that better meet people’s needs. We also support approaches that connect health promotion, complementary and integrative medicine, and locally grounded models of care with existing health systems.
Where we focus
In the Mekong region, we support efforts to build the evidence base, strengthen professional capacity and create an enabling policy environment for traditional and natural medicine. This includes support for education, research, local manufacturing and community-based approaches that can contribute to more accessible models of care grounded in local and cultural contexts.
In Switzerland, we support initiatives that encourage greater investment in evidence-based complementary medicine and health promotion. We also support innovative models of care that place people and communities more centrally within the health system, through research, engagement with policy-makers and health professionals, awareness-raising and selected strategic initiatives that contribute to long-term health system development.
Partnerships and initiatives
Our health partnerships range from research and policy initiatives to innovative models of care. Together with our partners, we explore how health care can become more preventive, accessible and people-centred in practice. This includes work in integrative medicine, community-based approaches and emerging models such as Hospital at Home.
We also support approaches that can strengthen health promotion, create the right incentives and contribute to more sustainable models of care over time.
